"Rally for Valley" reaches Jalsindhi
ALIRAJPUR: The 'Rally for Valley'
of anti-dam activists led by Booker prize winner Arundhati Roy
has reached its destination Jalsindhi where Narmada Bachao
Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar was observing a fast.
At Jalsindhi, Patkar explained to the rallyists 'the
impending holocaust which would uproot the tribals' in the
region, reports PTI.
The activists were on their way back to Kakarana by boats
after a day's halt at Jalsindhi. About 150 activists from
across the world boarded the boats at 1500 hours today. An NBA
spokesman told PTI at Badwani that the rallyists returning
from Jalsindhi would halt at Chikalda.
According to a report received here, the anti-dam
activists who were supposed to reach Jalsindhi by foot from
Mathawada did not trek the distance of 15 kms and were camping
The anti-dam activists are expected to return to Indore
tomorrow where they would have a meeting at Visarjan Ashram.
