MUMBAI, Sept 25: The State unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) has urged the Governor Dr P C Alexander to bring together the agitators of the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) and the Maharashtra Government to establish a dialogue between them.
In a letter to the Governor, JD (Secular) spokesperson Gopal Dukhande alleged that as the State Government is looking at the matter as a law and order problem it is using pressure tactics. It is unfortunate that the State Government is not trying to have a dialogue with the agitators.
He also expressed concern for those agitating members led by NBA leader Medha Patkar stationed on the banks of the Narmada river who did not budge an inch even after the water entered their homes endangering their lives. The police lathi-charged them with a view to save their lives, he alleged.
