GANDHINAGAR, DECEMBER 1: The Gujarat Government has imposed prohibitory orders around the Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam site to prevent kar sevaks from performing kar sevaks in Kevadia colony on December 4 in favour of the Narmada project.
The proposed agitation by the Narmada Jan Andolan led by Maharashtra's Shetkari Sanghatana leader Sharad Joshi will perform the kar sevaks at the dam site by drawing water from the dam to the canal by making a human chain.
To prevent this, the State Government has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Bombay Police Act.
Narmada Development Minister Jaynarayan Vyas described the kar seva
as "the personal image projection of a single person" and said the seva was a stumbling block to the project when the project work was going ahead smoothly and the matter regarding the project was still pending in the Supreme Court.
