Activists to rally for Narmada people

VADODARA, AUG 20: Noted human rights activist Justice (Retd) Rajinder Sachar, Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy and veteran journalists Vidya Bal and Darryl D'Monte are among the hundreds of prominent persons and activists who will gather on August 24 at Domkhedi and Jalsamadhi to express solidarity with the Narmada people, claimed a press note from the Narmada Bachao Andolan.

They are to take part in the `Appeal to the Nation from Valley: Saga of Narmada' a programme during the monsoon satyagraha, the release added.

Among the people who will take part in the gathering are human right activists Girish Patel and Haroobhai Mehta, dancer Arjun Raina, Colin Gonsalves, Anita Dube and Jharna Zaveri.

The release stated that hundreds of activists from various parts of the country are arriving at the satyagraga place for this unique occasion. Raina would be performing based on the issues and struggle of the Narmada Bachao Andolan after the programme, the release claimed and added that films based on the struggle of various people's struggles including that of Narmada Bachao Andolan would be screened on that day.
