AHMEDABAD: The Narmada Jal Rakshak Sangh, an apex body of pro-Narmada project organisations in the state, has decided to stage a dharna in front of the Supreme Court to focus attention of the authorities regarding delay in the final judgement on the height of Sardar Sarovar Project, pending in the apex Court for the last five years.

A decision to organise the demonstration in New Delhi in the first week of September was taken at an emergency meeting of the Sangh presided over by well know preacher Swami Sachidanand and attended by the representatives of Narmada Abhiyan, Narmada Foundation, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Agriculture, Sankat Nivaran Samiti, Sadvichar Parivar and All-India Sardar Foundation.

Sangh honorary general secretary Manubhai Patel, in a statement, said, "We have been forced to take such a decision as the court has not given its judgement even when almost all the hearing of the points raised in the case have been completed by the inquiry commission appointed by it".
