Renowned writer Arundhati Roy and film maker Jharna Jhaveri reached Bhopal yesterday, to join and express their solidarity with the struggle of Maan affected persons. Addressing press persons at the dharna today, Arundhati Roy said that the just demands of affected persons should be accepted immediately and they shall be rehabilitated with alternate land. Today a number of trade unions from Bhopal also joined the dharna in solidarity. Today is the 26th day of ongoing struggle and 20th day of indefinite fast.

Renowned writer and Booker prize winner Arundhati Roy reached here yesterday evening to support the cause of Maan affected persons. Addressing a Press Conference today morning here she expressed her surprise that even after 20 day of indefinite fast, the state government has not made any attempt to find a solution to the demands of Maan affected persons. When asked that the claims put forward by Andolan and state government are contradictory, she replied that it is historical fact that state government has lied time and again on the issue. She said that the repressive act of depriving them of basic needs like water exposes the inhuman face of government. She reiterated that her demands are the same as the demands of struggling persons and state government must accept them as early as possible. She appealed that persons with different skills should come forward to support the ongoing struggle. Making a statement on her role she said being a writer she would contribute to struggle by writing about it. Filmmaker Jharna Jhaveri said that what is happening in Maan project impact zone and what is happening in Bhopal on the 26th day of struggle makes it amply clear that what is the real face of the state government trumpeting the rhetoric of Adivasi development and decentralisation.

In the solidarity with the ongoing struggle a number of trade unions sat on dharna today and held public meeting there. Speaking at the meeting, many trade union leaders opined that the attitude of state government is condemnable and it should accept demands of affected persons immediately. Hind Mazdoor Sabha, All India Bank Employees Association, AITUC, MP State Corporation Employees Association, All India Youth Federation, MP Bank Employees Association, Bhopal Gas Pidit Mahila Udhyog sangthan and other organisation were part of today's dharna.

Today is the 26th day of ongoing struggle and 20th day of indefinite fast by Chittaroopa Palit, Vinod Patwa, Mangat Verma and Ramkunwar . The health of the fasting activists is deteriorating.
