WE INVITE YOU TO THE BANKS OF THE NARMADA, TO BILGAON VILLAGE, ON 21ST- 22ND MARCH, 08 a rainbow revelry of holi with the riveting beat of the drums, rhythmic dances and traditional songs
The organized adivasis of the Satpuda mountains have been celebrating their traditional Holi festival for generations. Holi is the festival that symbolises victory of good over evil. In the last 22 years, the activists as well as supporters of the movement have joined together with the people on the occasion of Holi, with the collective beats of hundreds of drums, ceremonial dances, songs, and of course slogans. Every Holi we also hold a large public meeting in the valley, to renew our pledge against anti-people development policies and ideas, and for the development of a better community, a better India, a better world by struggling and reconstructing. This year will be no different, Holi will be celebrated to renew this pledge, in the villages of Jhabua (M.P.) and Bilgaon (Nandurbar, Maharashtra). The Holi bonfire will reach towards the sky. Indeed this year the Holi will boost our hope and aspiration. This festival will awaken the faith and the collective strength of people of Narmada valley, and our comrades, friends and supporters are all cordially invited. This year the holi will be celebrated from 21st till early morning of 22nd March at Bilgaon (the village where people built real Swadeshi micro-hydro power station, which alas, has been submerged by the dam authorities with unjust submergence, but it will be rebuilt again here and soon). HOW TO REACH: Those coming via Khandwa and Indore should reach Badwani NBA office by 21st morning. Those coming via Mumbai, or Dhule or Shahada should reach Dhadgoan (Nandurbar) on 21st morning as well. From both sides we will meet at Bilgaon by 21st evening where we will be greeted by the spirited Jeevanshala students, to celebrate Holi till 22nd early morning. Then we will spend some time in the hills and fields just spared by submergence, and ride the boat in the Narmada to reach the submergence areas in the inner adivasi belt as well as later in the plains of Nimad. Please do come to be with the struggling people of Narmada who are fighting for the past 22 years for a sustainable, eco friendly, just world. Still alive and still fighting, raising hope amidst darkness and doom. On 22nd night you can head home, via Julwania/ Indore towards Delhi, or to Pune or Mumbai.
