Shri Rajendra Singh of Tarun Bharat Sangh, recipient of the Magsaysay Award for his work on water in Rajasthan, visited the ongoing dharna in Bhopal of the oustees of Man Project late Sunday night. Declaring his support to the struggle of the Man oustees, he condemned the repression unleashed by the State Government and said that the cruelty of the Government is uncivilised. Prior to this, leader of the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti and MLA Dr. Sunilam also visited the dharna with his colleagues and declared his support to the struggle. Today the indefinite fast entered the seventh day.

Shri Rajendra Singh of Tarun Bharat Sangh, recipient of the Magsaysay Award for the highly innovative work on water harvesting in Rajasthan done by him, reached the dharna in Bhopal late last night. He inquired about the health of those on indefinite fast. Addressing the people on dharna, he said that the kind of terror unleashed by the Government in the Man submergence area is beyond imagination. To uproot hand pumps which are the source of people's drinking water is nothing short of an unpardonable crime. It is clear from these actions that the declaration of the Government that it is committed towards the development of the tribals is nothing but a show; the reality is totally different.

Prior to this, Dr. Sunilam, the forceful MLA from Multai condemned the terror of the State and called on the people to wage a fight to finish keeping the Man submergence area as the focus. He demanded that the State Government immediately restore the water and electricity to the villages in Man submergence area, and resettle the oustees giving them good quality irrigated land as per the Rehabilitation policy. Others who visited the dharna to express their support included Shri Abdul Jabbar of Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Udyog Sangathan, Shri Pramod Pradhan of CITU, Shri Raghav Narsalay of Focus, Mumbai, and Shri Roop Singh Chauhan of AITUC.

Today is the 13th day of the dharna and 7th day of the indefinite fast. Those sitting on indefinite fast - Mangat Verma, Vinod Patwa, Ramkuvar and Chittaroopa Palit - have all lost between 3-6 kgs. of weight. There has been no response so far from the Government or the administration to the demands of the people.
