| Narmada Puran | A film by Avinash Deshpande. This film narrates the fate of Ukai displaced people and on that background, the issue of the displacement and determination of the Narmada farmers and tribals. It is a detailed expose of the environmental effects of large dams and the alienation of lakhs of poor people from their land and forests. Besides Ukai, it uses examples of other dams -- Rihand, Koel Karo, Tawa, etc. and makes a strong case against building large dams on the Narmada. |
