THE DEBATE ON GAIL OMVEDT'S OPEN LETTER
In June, 1999 during the monsoon satyagraha of the Narmada Bachao Andolan, activist Gail Omvedt wrote an open letter addressed to Arundhati Roy in which she opposed Ms Roy's stand against the Sardar Sarovar Project in her essay, Greater Common Good. Expectedly, this letter elicited many responses.
